St. John's Meadows Residents and Staff Volunteer for Salvation Army
Seniors from St. John’s Meadows, a senior living community in Brighton, along with staff from the facility, will participate in the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign at Tops Friendly Market in Lac deVille Plaza in Brighton on Tuesday, December 7. A group of nine elders and three staff volunteers will take shifts to ring bells from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. inside the store.
This is the third year St. John’s Meadows volunteers have donated their time to this cause. In 2009, the “Crafty Ladies” of St. John’s Meadows donated hand-knit scarves, hats, mittens and children’s sweaters, 425 items in all, to the Salvation Army.
St. John’s Meadows, St. John’s independent and enhanced assisted living community, embraces the principles of the Eden Alternative culture change movement and is home to more than 400 people. The spirit of volunteerism thrives there, with elders and staff putting their creative energies to work for the benefit of others, both within and outside of the St. John’s family.
