HISTORICAL PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBIT OPENS AT ST. JOHN'S MEADOWS
A group of 35 residents and staff members will “get back to their roots” when photos of their ancestors fill the art gallery at St. John’s Meadows, 1 Johnsarbor Drive in Brighton. The exhibit will open at the senior living community with a celebration on Friday, April 16, from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. in the Briarwood building. The show will continue through June 2.
The display includes approximately 45 photographs of parents, grandparents and extended family members, some of whom were born and raised in the Rochester area. There are Tintype, black-and-white, and antique sepia photographs, some dating back to the 1800s. “We had a great response from our residents,” says art show coordinator and resident Helen Bellanca, an Elmira native who has lived in Rochester most of her life. “We’re finding out history. It’s a little touch of the past.”
St. John's Meadows is sponsored by St. John’s, a multi-level continuum of care for elders, and offers a variety of independent and assisted living options. St. John's Home is Rochester's only Eden Alternative nursing home. St. John's Foundation develops financial resources for the family of St. John's services and programs. St. John’s also has programs providing services to people who continue living in their own homes, including Day Break adult day services.
